POLICE CHIEF OF THE YEAR

The Delaware League of Local Governments has announced its annual awards program.  The program will honor a Municipal Police Chief of the Year and Police Officer of the Year for 2014 at the annual meeting in September.  Please send your nominations to Martin W. Johnson III, Coordinator, Delaware Police Chiefs’ Council, Inc., 400 South Queen Street, Dover, DE 19904.  Submissions may also be made by fax to 302-736-7146 or by email to martin.johnson@cj.state.de.us.

Nominations should be received no later than Friday, August 15, 2014.  Entries for both categories will be reviewed and selected by the League from those nominations received by this date.

Municipal Police Chief of the Year Nominees

It is requested for each nominee for Municipal Chief of the Year that you submit a brief rationale for your selection.  Some suggested criteria for selection are:

• Fostering positive relationships with Mayor and Council
• Innovative public safety initiatives
• Leadership
• Adaptability to changing technology
• Service to the Delaware Police Chiefs Council

Municipal Police Officer of the Year Nominees

You should determine if you have an officer who truly stands out.  It may be for bravery, dedication, loyalty, or any number of criteria.  It may also be an opportunity to recognize your “unsung heroes”.  A brief rationale should accompany your nomination.
